Do you want to visit Charlotte but don't know where to start? In this article, I will tell you some of the best things to see in Charlotte (North Carolina) so that you can make the most of your stay knowing in advance what to see and what to do.

Find the best agency in Charlotte

Also known as Queen City, Charlotte is the city of motorsports and sports, entertainment and live music, modern art and urban art. A city where everyone will find their place.

Meet the NASCAR Hall of Fame

For motorsport enthusiasts, the NASCAR Hall of Fame is without a doubt one of the must-sees in Charlotte. For those of you who do not know, NASCAR stands for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, and it is a car racing format that was born in Charlotte in June 1949. These races are characterized by taking place on oval circuits, and because the Cars that are driven are always series vehicles, that is, cars as they leave the factory, with the basic design.

In addition to telling its story through its cars and memorabilia, one of its greatest attractions is the more than 50 racing simulators. You can even change your own wheel! Without a doubt, a place where young and old will have a great time driving cars through all the circuits you want.

Bechtler Museum of Modern Art

For those of you who enjoy modern art, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is one of the must-sees in Charlotte. It is a small museum that houses works by Picasso, Miró, Le Corbusier, Degas, Ernst, Andy Warhol or Chillida, among others, and which has its origin in the private collection of the Bechtler family.

In addition to visual art, on the first Friday of each month, Jazz concerts are held in the museum. And every third Friday of the month, the museum opens its doors for free between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

Cheer on the local soccer team: Carolina Panthers

If your visit coincides with the course of the NFL league (between September and December), one of the essentials to see in Charlotte is a professional American football game.

NoDa: Charlotte's hipster neighbourhood

NoDa, short for North Davidson, is Charlotte's hipster neighbourhood. Located northeast of Uptown, what was a former textile industry park, is today an area dedicated to the arts and entertainment. Along North Davidson Street, you'll find eclectic galleries, concert venues like the NeighborhoodTheater or The Evening Muse, arts and crafts stores, clothing boutiques, tattoo parlours, coffee shops, and restaurants.

Relax at Freedom Park

Connect with nature in Charlotte at beautiful Freedom Park. Located south of Uptown on the banks of Little Sugar Creek, it is a vast parkland that spans about 38 hectares. For those who want more tranquillity, you can take a walk on the shores of the lake or have a picnic in its 5 areas set up for them, equipped with barbecues.

Learn at Discovery Place Science

The Discovery Place Science Museum is a museum to discover everything about science and technology, which opened its doors in 1981. If you travel with children it is a good option since it offers information and attractions for all ages, you will learn and have fun at the same time.

Inside it, you will find impressive rooms, an aquarium with all the marine species in the world, an IMAX, a forest terrarium, a dome-shaped cinema and much more. In short, it is one of the places in Charlotte that you cannot miss.

Enjoy basketball with the Charlotte Hornets

In addition to the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte also has a basketball team in the NBA, the Charlotte Hornets. Even if you don't understand basketball or think you don't like it, I still recommend that you go to see an NBA game. Besides the game itself, everything that surrounds it is a show. The stands are defending their colours, the mascot cheering the public and the "cheerleaders" entertaining the breaks. It really is one of the must-sees in Charlotte if you get the chance.

Bill Graham Library

Bill Graham Library is a library of about 3,700 square meters, with peculiar architecture and an extensive garden, in which you will learn the story of one of the most famous parish priests in the United States. In the library, you will find books written by the Graham family, Christian classics and Bibles.

In addition to the library and the large garden, in the complex, you will also see the family home where Billy Graham lived since he was 9 years old, which has been restored but still preserves about 80% of its original structure and objects.

Tours run for free, although donations are accepted. The tour, The Journey of Faith, lasts an hour and a half and runs through all of Graham's facilities.

Visit the public market of the seventh

7th Street Public Market is a bustling and dynamic fresh produce and local produce market located in Charlotte's Uptown.

Whether you want to have breakfast, lunch, snack or dinner, you will find something that suits your needs. Not Just Coffee, a local coffee shop for your daily fix, Hazelnuts Crêperie for a treat or Orman's Cheese Shop for cheese lovers.

Bring out the child in you in Carowinds

Just 20 minutes southwest of Charlotte is Carowinds, a theme park, amusement park and water park. Located on the border between North Carolina and South Carolina, it is the pride and meeting point between the two Carolina.

With more than 60 attractions, live shows, regional cuisine and Carolina hospitality, fun is guaranteed for the whole family.
